Ten Hag to sell Man Utd star

Erik ten Hag has reportedly ‘lost all patience’ in Manchester United and France forward Anthony Martial and the head coach will ‘dump’ him this summer.

Martial’s career looked to be over heading into this season as he had a loan spell at La Liga outfit Sevilla at the end of the 2021/22 campaign.

But like many of his United teammates, he was afforded a fresh start heading into this season. Initially, he looked set to make the most of this opportunity as he was one of the club’s best performers during pre-season.

Though Martial reverted to type once this season got underway. He has missed much of the campaign through injury and has flattered to deceive when he’s been fit enough to play.

Martial has only started ten Premier League games this term. In his 27 outings across all competitions, he has been involved in 11 goals.

Ten Hag is expected to overhaul his squad this summer and with Martial out of contract in 2024, he is expected to leave when the transfer window opens.

The Sun are reporting that ‘Man Utd will dump Martial’ as Ten Hag and the board have ‘lost all patience after the star’s latest sulk’.

Martial walked straight down the tunnel after being subbed off during United’s 1-0 win over AFC Bournemouth over the weekend. It was ‘another underwhelming performance from the forward’ and Ten Hag now ‘wants him out’.

It was reported last week that Ten Hag is looking to sign two new strikers this summer. They will likely come in to replace Martial and Wout Weghorst.

Man Utd have improved since Ten Hag joined the club but they have struggled in front of goal this season. Out of the teams occupying the top six spots, they are comfortably the lowest scorers. They have only netted 52 goals in 36 Premier League games.

Earlier this month, Martial admitted that Man Utd have “struggled to convert chances” this season.

“You know, we’ve got a great side, we’ve got a great squad. We’re well placed and with a lot of work between now and the end of the season, we can get there [top four],” Martial told United’s in-house media.

“It’s always good when you’re a striker to get back on the scoresheet and to help the team with goals and I think it will be really important. I think confidence grows when you score earlier in a game.

“It’s true that we have struggled on occasions throughout the season to convert the chances that we’ve created and let’s face it, we have created a lot of chances. It’s something we’re working hard on in training.”
