‘Price tag’ revealed as Chelsea starter set to leave if they fail to qualify for the Champions League

Chelsea could lose Kai Havertz in the summer transfer window if they fail to qualify for the Champions League, according to reports.

The Blues have been poor in the Premier League this season with Graham Potter replacing Thomas Tuchel in early September.

Chelsea have managed to win just eight of their 20 Premier League fixtures so far this term with Potter’s side currently sat tenth in the standings.

They are ten points away from fourth-placed Manchester United – who occupy the final Champions League spot – while they are 21 points adrift of leaders Arsenal.

Chelsea have got four points from their last two matches against Crystal Palace and Liverpool but they face missing out on Champions League qualification unless they put together an impressive run of wins before the end of the campaign.

And Sky Sport Germany journalist Florian Plettenberg claims that rumoured Bayern Munich target Havertz – who has won the Champions League during his time at the club – will look to leave if they fail to qualify for the top European club competition.

On Havertz, Plettenberg wrote on Twitter last night: “He is NO transfer target for FC Bayern at this stage! Neither now, nor in summer. They don’t see him as a #9 where the club already has Choupo, Müller and Tel. Nevertheless his departure in summer is possible! Price tag around €50-60m.”

Before adding this morning: “His future at Chelsea is uncertain! His departure in summer is possible. Decisive months could be May or June. Champions League next season is crucial for him. Price tag around €60m with possible bonus payments included.”

After being knocked out of the FA Cup by Manchester City earlier this month, Chelsea now have almost a fortnight in between matches and Potter plans to use the time to bring his group of players together.

Potter told the club’s official website: “There will be an element of team bonding.

“We need to try to bring the group together. There are a few new faces, we’ve got a bit of window now. It’s not just about the grass, it’s about how you interact as a team and as a group. There are some things we can do, and we will use the two weeks to try to do that as best as we can.

“We have a window to do it, and with a lot of players here, we need to build some togetherness, some understanding, and we have to be creative with how we do it.”
