Liverpool legend John Barnes has urged Liverpool to go after Crystal Palace star Eberechi Eze, who’s been linked with a move to Tottenham this summer.

Eze has three assists and ten goals for Palace in the Premier League this term, and is currently in a rich vein of form, scoring six in his last seven outings for the Eagles.

Earlier this week Fichajes claimed Tottenham are looking at Eze to fill the boots of Dejan Kulusevski, after the north Londonders confirmed they would not be taking up the option to make the Sweden international’s loan move from Juventus permanent.

But Barnes reckons he would be a great addition for former club Liverpool, as Jurgen Klopp looks to rebuild his midfield this summer, with the 24-year-old’s versatility a particularly attractive prospect.

Barnes told MyBettingSites: “I love him. I love him. I think he’s a fantastic player. He’s an attacking midfield player with a good attitude. He can play one touch, two touch and can dribble, pass and score goals.”

“He’s a great player that could fit into any of the top teams in the country. I would absolutely love him at Liverpool. Absolutely.”

“Whether Liverpool are interested is another thing but he would fit into the team as one of the three midfield players, as a number ten or as a wide forward.”

“He’s very intelligent and very good on the ball. I think he’s been Crystal Palace’s best player.”

Barnes was also asked about Darin Nunez’s first season at Liverpool, in which the Uruguay international has managed 15 goals in all competitions, as well as four assists.

Barnes added: “Nunez’s season has been stop-start due to the struggles of the team. He came in with the right attitude. He’s committed and one of our better players in terms of his energy, pace, power and driving the team forward.”

“He’s shown the kind of commitment that Liverpool fans like to see. Next season we will see the best of him. I’ve always liked Darwin Nunez because he creates a spark in the crowd and within the team and he’s very aggressive. That’s how we like our strikers to play.”
