Liverpool prepared to ‘pay whatever’ for midfielder who Klopp is ‘obsessed’ with
Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp is reportedly desperate to sign Real Madrid midfielder Federico Valverde with the Uruguayan’s future in the balance.
Most reports indicate that the Reds are done with their incoming transfer business for this summer after the signings of Fabio Carvalho, Darwin Nunez and Calvin Ramsay.
Speaking recently, transfer expert Fabrizio Romano opened the door on the possibility of them sealing another transfer before the end of the window but only if a good opportunity comes along.

Speaking to Wondergoal Podcast last week, Romano said: “Liverpool is super happy with the market they had with Darwin Nunez, Fabio Carvalho and Ramsay, but I would always keep the market open for Liverpool.
“Because in January, trust me, they had no intention to sign any player. They were really relaxed and happy with their team.
“And then, they had the opportunity to sign Luis Diaz, because they saw many clubs jumping into it like Tottenham and West Ham. Jurgen Klopp decided in 24 hours, together with a board of course, to jump into it and sign Luis immediately.
“The markets sometimes are not just strategy, but also reaction and this is why Liverpool was very good with Luis Diaz and this is why I would keep the situation open for Liverpool till the end.
“But as of today, their plan is to focus on the new midfielder, and they want the top midfielder for next summer, the summer of 23.
“They wanted (Aurelien) Tchouameni this summer. He had some conversations with Jurgen Klopp. So Liverpool was really trying for Tchouameni, but then in the end he decided to join Real Madrid.
“I see Liverpool busy with conversations right now to sign a top midfielder next summer. So this is the idea and this is the strategy.
“And of course, they’re a big fan of Jude Bellingham. But I’m sure that there will be a crazy fight to sign Bellingham in the summer of 2023 Because it’s not available on the market this summer and Borussia Dortmund will keep him at the club.”
And now Spanish newspaper Nacional insist that Jurgen Klopp is ‘waiting’ for Real Madrid midfielder Valverde with the Liverpool boss ‘obsessed’ with the Uruguay international.
Following the Champions League final, which Liverpool lost 1-0 to Real Madrid in May, Klopp ‘left the door wide open for him in case he plans to land at Anfield in the future’.
And Klopp is ‘convinced [that] is quite likely’ as ‘he knows that Valverde’s relationship with Carlo Ancelotti is not very fluid’ with the 23-year-old expected to be used mainly as a substitute this coming season.
If Valverder ‘considers his future’ at Real Madrid then Liverpool ‘will take very little time to come to his rescue’ with the Reds prepared to ‘pay whatever it takes’ to seal a transfer.
