Man Utd have reportedly come to a decision over whether to “cash in” on Jadon Sancho during this summer’s transfer window.

Sancho finally completed his move to the Red Devils in 2021 for a fee in the region of £73m from Bundesliga side Borussia Dortmund.

The 23-year-old has struggled since completing his move to Old Trafford as he has only grabbed ten goals and five assists in 69 outings across all competitions.

The Englishman was unavailable for a few months earlier this season as he suffered a drop off in “fitness and mood”, according to Erik ten Hag.

Sancho has returned to the fold in recent months but he is still being criticised for his below-par performances. Club legend Gary Neville thinks he is too “inconsistent”.

The winger scored a spot-kick as Man Utd beat Brighton via a penalty shootout at Wembley over the weekend in the semi-finals of the FA Cup. It is hoped that this gives him a boost heading into the final few games of the 2022/23 campaign.

Ex-United player Louis Saha thinks Sancho’s “main issue” is that he “overthinks”.

“He has to fight, he has to give more and he knows that. He should be hurt by the criticism regarding his performances and despite having so much quality, maybe his main issue is overthinking what the opposition is going to do,” Saha told Betfred.

“Players like Jadon need arrogance to perform and show their quality and I’m still a huge supporter of him and it’s not fair to assume that he’s not going to start producing. He’s a brilliant player, but mentally he has to stop thinking so much. He needs to believe in his body, in his speed and in his teammates.

“When your teammates are either less creative or tired during a game, then you look to players such as Jadon to perform. Jadon needs to get back to the basics of his game, not overthink things and naturally things should begin to go in his favour.”

Journalist Ben Jacobs has highlighted “rumours about Man Utd cashing in” on Sancho but he does not believe he will be let go in the summer.

“I know we’ve heard a lot of rumours about Manchester United potentially cashing in somehow, in order to generate funds because they’re obviously looking for quite a big outlay, particularly with a more defined forward. But I don’t think that’s the case, at this point,” Jacobs told GiveMeSport.

“Sancho has been given a clear challenge to get consistent game time, stay fit and get back to his best and live up to his price tag. And then after a slightly longer period of time and balanced against any other incomings in and around his position, things will be assessed once again.”
