Man Utd boss Erik ten Hag is keen to sign two strikers in the summer transfer window with Anthony Martial likely to leave, according to reports.

The Red Devils are desperate to sign at least one new centre-forward in the summer with the Premier League club yet to permanently replace Cristiano Ronaldo.

Ronaldo left Old Trafford at the end of November following a controversial interview with Piers Morgan in which he criticised the manager, former team-mates, the owners and more.

Man Utd brought in Wout Weghorst in January on a loan deal until the end of the season from Burnley but it is unlikely that Ten Hag sees his compatriot as a long-term option.

And with Weghorst and injury-prone Martial both likely to be on their way out of Man Utd in the summer transfer window, Football Transfers claims that Ten Hag is keen to bring in two new strikers.

Tottenham’s Harry Kane remains their top target with a report last month claiming that Ten Hag is ‘sold’ on making Kane their ‘priority’ in the summer.

In a report focussing on Aston Villa ‘looking at a possible loan move’ for Martial, Football transfers claims they have been told that Man Utd want to bring Atalanta striker Rasmus Hojlund to the club in the summer but that ‘they will struggle to secure a deal below £60million’.

The report adds that Man Utd ‘want to buy the youngster to play alongside Harry Kane’ with a report in The Times over the weekend claiming that they could get him for as low as £40m.

It is far from certain that Kane will leave Tottenham and join Man Utd with the England international making very little noise over his situation at his boyhood club.

Previous reports have claimed that Spurs chairman Daniel Levy would be against selling Kane to a Premier League rival but there is a belief that the England captain would want to stay in the Premier League in order to beat Alan Shearer’s Premier League goalscoring record.

And Shearer has advised Kane to “look” at his “options” in the summer with the Tottenham striker coming to the end of his contract at the end of June 2024.

“If it was me, personally, in his situation now – yeah, I would look at my options,” Shearer said on Match of the Day.

“He has been so loyal to Tottenham and so brilliant for Tottenham. I don’t think any Tottenham fan could complain if he said: ‘Look, I’ve done my time and I have got to look elsewhere.'”
