Man Utd want Min-Jae

According to reports, Man Utd are planning to wrap up a deal for Napoli defender Kim Min-jae during the early stages of this summer’s transfer window.

Min-jae has made a mane for himself in Serie A this term for Napoli, who have already been crowned champions.

The South Korea international signed for Napoli last summer from Fenerbache for around £15m and he has established himself as one of the best defenders in the division.

The 26-year-old was earmarked as a potential signing for Tottenham before he joined Napoli and now he is being tracked by Man Utd.

The Red Devils are expected to be in the market for a new centre-back this summer, with Harry Maguire and/or Victor Lindelof likely to secure themselves moves elsewhere.

Min-jae is under contract until 2027 but his deal includes a €50m release clause which becomes active this July.

Italian outlet Corriere dello Sport (via Sport Witness) claim Min-jae ‘has become the great goal for Erik ten Hag in the next window’.

The Red Devils are apparently ‘ready to bring’ the centre-back to Old Trafford ‘immediately’ by activating his release clause.

Last month, it was reported that Man Utd are also looking to sign a new centre-midfielder before next season.

Marcel Sabitzer is currently on loan at United from Bayern Munich. His deal does not include a buy option so the Premier League club will have to negotiate with the Bundesliga giants if they wish to pursue an agreement.

Alternatively, United could look to target different midfielders. TEAMtalk are reporting that ‘United are plotting a move for Everton midfielder Amadou Onana should the Toffees suffer relegation’.

Everton’s shock 5-1 win over Brighton on Monday lifted them out of the relegation zone with three games to go. They are currently two points clear of the bottom three.

Onana has been one of Everton’s better performers this term and he has been heavily linked with a move to Arsenal.

Man Utd have been ‘impressed’ by Onana, who is said to be valued at around £33m. The report adds.

‘United have been linked with a number of midfielders, including Jude Bellingham, but Onana could be a more attainable target especially if Everton go down.

‘This is partly due to the fact that Scott McTominay could leave the Red Devils this summer. Interestingly, Newcastle are the current favourites to bring him in.

‘Onana is likely to seek a move away from Everton if they suffer relegation and the player is interested in playing at the highest level possible to cement his place in the Belgium squad.’
