Man Utd target Kim Min-Jae celebrates winning

Napoli defender Kim Min-Jae has reportedly accepted an offer to join Man Utd despite claims to the contrary from his agents.

The South Korean has been in brilliant form for the Serie A side this season with his performances helping Napoli to a first Scudetto in 33 years and a Champions League quarter-final appearance.

Kim only signed for Napoli last summer for €18m from Turkish giants Fenerbahce but there is already a chance that he will move to another club this summer with plenty of interest in the Premier League.

He has been heavily linked to Man Utd in particular with interest also credited to fellow Premier League clubs Chelsea, Liverpool and Man City.

The nickname ‘the Monster’ was given to him earlier in his career by fans and the media and Kim told The Guardian last November: “I really like it. It sums up my positive attributes as a defender.”

And now Italian publication Il Mattino claim that Kim ‘has accepted the transfer’ to Man Utd this summer and the Red Devils have ‘let the blue club know they will pay the full €56m clause’.

But Il Mattino seem to have got ahead of themselves with Kim’s camp claiming that links to Man Utd are “not true” with the Napoli centre-back not rushing a decision over his future.

“The transfer to Manchester United is not true,” Kim’s representatives told Star News.

“Currently, Kim Min-jae is focusing on finishing the season. In the case of the English Premier League, the qualification to the Champions League or the final standings have not been decided. There is no need to move.”

Kim will be involved in military service training in June and his entourage have insisted that no decision will be made on his future until at least July.

His representatives added: “He has to be enlisted in June, so he doesn’t have to rush.”

Luciano Spalletti’s comments back in March will have got Man Utd fans excited with the Napoli manager claiming Kim is “the best centre-back in the world”.

Spalletti said: “Kim Min-Jae is the best centre-back in the world right now. Kim does at least 20 incredible things per game. When he starts the run with the ball at his feet, he can get it into the opposition penalty area in 5 seconds flat!”
