Wolves midfielder Ruben Neves has turned down the chance to sign to Man Utd and will join Barcelona instead, according to reports.

The Red Devils are one of a number of top Premier League clubs looking for top midfielders in the summer transfer window with Liverpool, Arsenal and Chelsea being linked to a lot of the same players.

Erik ten Hag has overseen an encouraging start to his reign as Man Utd boss with his side on the verge of qualifying for the Champions League and in the FA Cup final after already winning the Carabao Cup earlier in the season.

Summer midfield signings Christian Eriksen and Casemiro have had a great impact on the Red Devils’ fortunes this season but their back-up options in midfield still looks a bit weak.

And Wolves’ Neves has been on their radar for a long time with the Portugal international finally set to leave the club after six seasons at Molineux.

Spanish publication Sport bring the latest on his future on Monday with claims that Neves is ready to join Barcelona despite getting ‘more important offers’ from Man Utd and other clubs.

They claim that Man Utd are ‘very interested in signing him’ and that they have submitted an offer for the Portugal international ahead of the summer transfer window.

However, Neves has chosen to join La Liga giants Barcelona and ‘everything is advanced’ as he hopes the deal can go through as soon as possible.

One player whose future at Man Utd is uncertain is Dean Henderson with recent reports claiming David de Gea is on the verge of signing a new deal at Old Trafford.

That means Henderson – who has been on loan at Nottingham Forest this season – is unlikely to be first choice at Man Utd next campaign and could have to look for a move elsewhere.

And the Manchester Evening News claims that Henderson is ‘set to have at least one enticing offer to leave the club permanently’ with Forest ‘interested’ in bringing him to the City Ground long term.

Henderson was ‘informed of Forest’s intention’ following their 1-0 victory over Arsenal secured their Premier League status for another season.

The report adds: ‘Forest are prepared to do a deal for up to £30million for Henderson, 26, and have also indicated the salary they would be prepared to offer.’
