Neymar slams ‘crazy’ Bayern Munich man over his ‘reckless career-ending’ foul on PSG star Messi

PSG superstar Neymar reacted angrily after Bayern Munich defender Benjamin Pavard was sent off for his foul on Lionel Messi on Wednesday night.

PSG were beaten 1-0 by Bayern Munich in the first leg of their Champions League last-16 tie at the Le Parc des Princes earlier this week.

Former PSG youngster Kingsley Coman scored the only goal of the game as his volley earned Bayern Munich a narrow victory.

Bayern were dominating the game until Kylian Mbappe was subbed on for the final half an hour. The France international had a goal ruled out as PSG were unable to equalise.

The Bundesliga giants went down to ten men in stoppage time as Pavard received a second yellow card. This late challenge on Messi arguably warranted a straight red card.

As reported by GOAL, Neymar ‘approached Pavard after he was shown the red card and could be clearly seen shouting “You’re crazy!” to the defender and pointing towards his head’.

Ex-Man Utd and West Ham player Trevor Sinclair was angered by this “out of control” challenge from Pavard that could have “ended” Messi’s career.

“Horrible tackle, I’ve got to be honest. It’s reckless, it’s out of control,” Sinclair said on talkSPORT.

“He might just get something over the top of the ball but he completely takes out Messi. That could break your left leg, that’s the challenge you don’t want to see in the game.”

He added: “I’m just looking at Messi there, I mean if he carries on and he’s fine in the next game, I’ll be astounded.

“I feel that was almost an amber challenge, touching on red because it was so out of control and reckless.

“They are the kind of challenges that we don’t want to see in the game because they end careers, they end seasons.”

Bayern boss Julian Nagelsmann still found time to praise Pavard after the game, as he played a “brilliant match” against World Cup winner Messi.

“The red card is not very good, especially since ‘Benji’ had a brilliant match,” Nagelsmann said.

“It was a difficult situation with a lot of speed at Messi. It was 50-50, between tackling or not. It’s not very good for the second leg but that’s how it is. Today he was brilliant so it’s important.”

“You had the feeling that we were very surprised that we had the ball so much and Paris wanted to do relatively little,” he added. “I knew they always defend deep, but the fact that they’re so passive and so very deep and not really designed to win the ball surprised me a bit.”
