Ronaldo wants transfer

Ex-Man Utd forward Cristiano Ronaldo is reportedly ‘crazy’ over a ‘return’ to Europe but he may be ‘sanctioned’ by Al Nassr if he pursues an exit.

The Portugal international left Man Utd at the end of last year. His exit came about after he consistently butted heads with head coach Erik ten Hag.

The Dutchman was looking to take United in a different direction and Ronaldo did not seem to figure into his plans.

Ronaldo refused to come on as a substitute on a couple of occasions and his contract was cancelled by mutual consent prior to the January transfer window.

The 38-year-old pursued a move away from Man Utd last summer after they failed to qualify for the Champions League. Chelsea and Bayern Munich were among the clubs linked with him but he ended up staying with the Premier League giants.

Ronaldo was finally let go after he slammed Ten Hag, Ralf Rangnick and the Glazer family during his infamous interview with Piers Morgan.

He later put pen to paper on a deal to join Saudi Arabian side Al Nassr. His contract runs until 2025 and it is understood that he is earning around €200m a year.

Ronaldo has grabbed 13 goals and two assists for Al Nassr but he is reportedly already eyeing a move back to Europe. Spanish outlet Mundo Deportivo are reporting that he ‘can’t take it anymore in Saudi Arabia’.

The forward is ‘crazy’ about leaving Al Nassr, even with him still having two years running on his contract.

Ronaldo has reportedly ‘realized the reality of the Saudi club’ and ‘the existing situation in the country where the infrastructure is very far from modern society’.

His ‘clear objective’ is to ‘return to Europe’ but the report claims Al Nassr would ‘sanction’ Ronaldo if he leaves before his contract expires. They add.

‘If Ronaldo decides to leave without just cause, he would have to compensate the club for the remaining two years of his contract as established in the Regulations on the FIFA Player Transfer Statute.

‘Specifically, its Article 17 regarding termination without just cause, where it makes it clear that “In all cases, the party that terminates the contract undertakes to pay compensation.”‘

Last week, entrepreneur Markus Schon ‘contacted’ Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich to inform them that he is keen to ‘finance a deal’ for Ronaldo.

“It would be conceivable that we could undertake to pay a transfer fee or loan fee in excess of a basic amount to be defined if our company is clearly seen as ‘facilitating’ the difference,” Schon said (via Football Transfers).

“In the event of a permanent commitment, we would expect a share in the proceeds from the jersey in order to limit our financial risk.”

Schon also points out that it is “absolutely necessary” for Ronaldo to take a pay cut to secure a move from Al Nassr to Bayern Munich.
