Tottenham have joined the long list of Premier League clubs who hold an interest in Leicester City playmaker James Maddison ahead of the summer.

Spurs are keen on adding some more creativity to their ranks and a move for the 26-year-old would make sense.

The likes of Newcastle and Liverpool have each been interested in the Leicester star too in recent weeks as his performances this season have been excellent.

Despite Leicester’s struggles this season, Maddison has been a consistent performer for them and he brings a real goal threat.

Across 18 league appearances, he has chipped in with nine goals and five assists. Leicester currently sit 15th in the league and are two points above the relegation zone.

A report from The Telegraph has revealed that Leicester have recorded losses of £92.5million for the financial year ending in May 2022.

As Leicester are gearing up for a summer rebuild, departures are looking more than likely in the summer to pave the way for incoming players.

The Foxes sold the likes of Kasper Schmeichel and Wesley Fofana in the summer and several more stars could leave at the end of the season.

They also risk losing the likes of Youri Tielemans, Caglar Soyuncu and Ayoze Perez as their contracts are set to come to an end in the summer.

Maddison is said to be valued at around £60million by the club and Tottenham are now said to hold a firm interest in the player.

Gabby Agbonlahor recently discussed the possibility of Maddison joining the North London club and he thinks it could be the perfect fit.

“I think Spurs would be the perfect club for him,” he told Football Insider. “Tottenham need a number ten like him. They keep playing this 3-4-3 formation, but they can totally change that if they get Maddison.

“It transforms into a 4-3-3 – and that means more attacking football for the fans.

“[Rodrigo] Bentancur, [Pierre-Emile] Hojbjerg, and Maddison as a midfield three is a really exciting prospect for Tottenham,” he added.

“Whoever does get Maddison this summer has got themselves a really top player.”

Only Harry Kane has more goal contributions this season than Maddison does in the Tottenham squad and he would be a welcomed addition to the side.

Tottenham will be keen on sorting their managerial situation as soon as possible so that they can adequately plan ahead for the summer transfer window.
