Transfer gossip: Bellingham ‘chooses’ next club as Spurs ‘brace themselves’ for Chelsea bid for Kane

Jude Bellingham is once again the subject of some juicy Transfer Gossip. He has decided who he will play for next season, apparently! Also: Harry Kane to Chelsea? Surely not…

The race to sign Borussia Dortmund sensation Jude Bellingham has been fierce, with Liverpool recently dropping out over fears he will be too expensive. This left Manchester City and Real Madrid as the frontrunners, while Manchester United had faint hopes they can make a deal happen.

Choosing between City and Real is not easy. The latter are the European champions. Los Blancos. The Galacticos. Meanwhile, City are a ridiculously good football team with one of the best managers of all time. However, it would appear that Bellingham wants to ply his trade in the Spanish capital.

According to AS, Bellingham has ‘chosen Madrid’. After ‘giving his yes’ to the move, the La Liga giants will begin negotiations with Dortmund ‘in the coming days’. The 19-year-old believes Real Madrid is the best ‘sporting option’ for him. This is obviously a huge boost for Real, who did not intend to open talks with the German side until they had Bellingham’s blessing, the report says.

However, Madrid are adamant they will not pay any more than €120million (£106m), which could potentially hinder their pursuit. Fees closer to €150m have been thrown around in recent months and if City are willing to pay that, the England teenager could be wearing sky blue next season.

Under contract until 2026, Dortmund had hoped to get one more season out of Bellingham, but he decided a long time ago that he would switch clubs this summer.

Federico Valverde, Eduardo Camavinga, Aurelien Tchouameni and now Jude Bellingham. The future is bright at the Bernabeu.

KANE YOU BELIEVE THIS?!

Tottenham are quite rightly sh*tting their pants ahead of the summer transfer window with Harry Kane entering the final year of his contract. He is very unlikely to sign a new deal, and it is hard to blame him. Manchester United and Bayern Munich have been strongly linked with the 29-year-old and Spurs chairman Daniel Levy would obviously much rather sell to a foreign club. Unfortunately for him, Kane has his eyes firmly set on breaking Alan Shearer’s Premier League goalscoring record.

Should Levy price his star player out of a move to Old Trafford, Kane would apparently be willing to run down his contract to leave for nothing. Both scenarios are beyond unthinkable and would not go down too well with the Spurs supporters, it is fair to say.

An even more unthinkable situation would be Kane moving to London rivals Chelsea. The Blues are set to appoint ex-Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino as their next permanent manager, and this has led to some rumours he will reunite with the England captain.

According to talkSPORT, Spurs chairman Levy is ‘bracing himself’ for an approach from Todd Boehly – who is expected to prioritise a new striker this summer.

Kane and Pochettino spent five years together in north London and grew a ‘special bond’. It is not looking good from a Spurs point of view, it has to be said.

BRIGHTON WANT EXPERIENCED ENGLISHMAN
At the age of 37, James Milner is a player in demand as he approaches the conclusion of his Liverpool contract. He has made 850 senior career appearances – including 326 for the Reds – and is still fit as a fiddle. He is obviously past his best, which is understandable, but he would certainly be a handy player to have around for another Premier League side.

And The Athletic say Brighton are very interested in bringing him in on a free transfer. They are ‘preparing’ a move for Milner, but are not the only club interested. Jurgen Klopp apparently ‘wishes to keep him’, but the club’s hierarchy have no desire to offer the experienced midfielder a new contract.

Roberto De Zerbi believes Milner ‘would provide them with quality, experience, leadership, and depth’ – which will be necessary should Brighton qualify for Europe.

The report states that Championship winners Burnley are also keen. Clarets boss Vincent Kompany played with Milner at Manchester City.
